“The scariest thing about distance is that you don’t know whether they’ll miss you or forget you.”
– Nicholas Sparks

A Long-Distance Relationship (LDR) can take a toll on a couple. The both of you may be trying hard to keep the spark alive, and doing your very best to be in each other’s lives. So to help, here are some ways to shorten the distance, and count down the time before you and your partner are reunited again!

1. Food delivery to their hearts

The best way to a person’s heart is through the stomach. Remember the first meal you shared together? Or your partner’s favourite pizza to go along with a cosy movie date at your place? What about her must-have dessert when she’s feeling down? Send delicious and lip smacking meals to your loved one, and relish those sweet memories together.

2. Messaging apps

Liven up the chats with Snapchat’s quirky and adorable features. Their filters and lenses have proven effective for entertaining anyone, what more your partner who would love to see a rainbow spilling out of your mouth. “Kakao” or “Line” your emotions away with their cute and fun stickers, especially on days where words just don’t seem sufficient enough to express your longing for your loved one.

Go on to couple apps like Between to share all the big and small events in each other’s lives. Whether it is your anniversary or your pet dog’s birthday, be sure to celebrate these events with your partner, and stay involved!

3. Plan events to look forward to together

“The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again”
– Charles Dickens, Nicholas Nickleby

Build on the excitement by planning quality couple activities for the day you meet again. You could, for instance, spend some mellow time together on a staycation, and enjoy a movie night by the pool while sipping on cocktails.

Sign up for a baking class or music jamming class together. For adventurous couples, sweat it out with a hike or go for more challenging water sports. Let the thrill of these activities recover the closeness and bond you have for each other.

4. Meditate on songs

Remember both the good and bad times you’ve had together, and continue to share all your good and bad feelings with your partner. Don’t let any of these emotions become obstacles in a long distance relationship.

Trust yourself, and trust your partner. Also, learn to have a whole new level of patience while looking forward to being in physical contact with your loved one again.

Don’t let the distance get you down. Instead, draw on these intense emotions, and persevere to the day when you get to see your significant other again! As Nicholas Sparks put it in The Notebook, “It’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day.”
