Have you spent many an hour glued to the television screen watching Descendants Of The Sun (DOTS)? Ever argued heatedly with your friends and family over whether Yoo Si Jin or Seo Dae Young is hotter? For all the hardcore DOTS fans out there, we’ve compiled a list of 6 dating lessons we’ve learned from DOTS for your enjoyment.

#1: Be witty.

When Kang Mo Yeon questions Yoo Si Jin about whether she, or the country, is more important to him, he replies that she’s more important, without skipping a beat. When she questions him further, he tells her that the country doesn’t get jealous, and that it has faith in him. Who wouldn’t fall in love (or more in love) with such a fast-thinking, clever man?

#2: Give the object of your affections emotional support.

Because Yoo Si Jin is always getting dispatched to go to war, Kang Mo Yeon is naturally very upset and worried about his well-being. During this super touching scene, he brings her to look at the stars, and they have a heartfelt conversation that makes things, at least for the time being, okay.

#3 Compliments are always welcome.

Sure, it might be a tad cheesy, but if you didn’t swoon at this scene of Yoo Si Jin being super-sweet to Kang Mo Yeon, you’re not human.

#4: Use humour to your advantage

The way to a woman’s heart is through a great sense of humour, which Yoo Si Jin demonstrates that he clearly has in this scene. Yes, that’s him inviting Kang Mo Yeon to check him out from behind.

#5: Conflict is inevitable.

Yoon Myung Joo and Seo Dae Young don’t have it easy, and in this heart-breaking scene, we witness Seo Dae Young getting the most agitated he’s ever been, because of a misunderstanding between the two. At the end of the day, conflicts will always arise, but the important thing is to work through the problems and make sure that both parties communicate well.

#6: Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

This scene was too cute for words! Yoo Si Jin casually remarked to Kang Mo Yeon that she must be in love with him, and she enthusiastically replied in the affirmative. If you’re anything like us, you might find yourself hesitating to declare your affections for someone so unequivocally, especially if you’re not sure whether you’ll hear it back. But here’s to learning from Mo Yeon and being braver!

Happy dating! And if you need more inspiration, we’ll be the first to recommend a rewatch. Or a re-rewatch. Nobody’s judging!
