App Review by Wilson, 33, Singapore

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: The willingness to try something new.

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: I only need to look at it once a day. It was initially frustrating, but after a while, because of the quality matches, I was glad to wait instead of making it a statistical game.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?
A: Because of my schedule, the first one took almost a month. For my second time meeting up (with a different lady), it took two weeks for us to meet up. The third time with yet another lady is expected to happen in a week from now.

Q: How was your first date?
A: Unique and interesting. It’s fun to meet new people and learn more about what makes them who they are.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: Be open. It is important you’re willing to meet and when meeting, be open to how the other person is. Don’t have expectation that it is the “be it” person when you go on a date. This will put pressure off both party and reduce the level of awkwardness. You then enjoy it and despite not getting a partner, you may well gain a new friend. Throw away any stereotyping or judging.

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: I saw the advertisement on Facebook, and decided to try it for fun.

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: I like that it focuses our preferences and provides only one match per day. I feel that having one match per day is better because if I were to be given too many options, it would be difficult for me to choose, and also I will have to spend a lot more time on the app.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?
A: Within one week.

Q: How was your first date?
A: It was nice. We both arrived on time – we decided to eat at a fast food restaurant. It was pretty casual but I didn’t mind. He took the initiative to queue up and pay for the meal, which I felt was nice of him.

We clicked really well, and we’re of the same wavelength. We were talking at length and sharing about our interests. He’s a really gentle yet talkative guy – although this might sound contradictory! The date lasted for about three hours, and we exchanged numbers and had a second date after a couple of days.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: Just try it out! You never know what will happen or who you will meet.

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: I got an email from LOLA telling me about LunchClick, a new app with a new concept, so I decided to download and try it out.

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: It’s a lot slicker than LOLA, especially the Q&A function. I do like the concept of asking pre-set questions instead of actual chatting. Sometimes you don’t really know what to say, and I personally prefer talking in person to messaging.
I also think restricting chats to two hours before a date was a good move, because you immediately have something to talk about (logistics), but you don’t find out so much about the person before you meet them. It’s a good way to build up anticipation without too many expectations.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?
A: About a week, I think.

Q: How was your first date?
A: Not bad. I was looking for deal breakers and since she didn’t hit any and didn’t raise any red flags, I asked her out on a second date.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: Put a date idea, no matter how cheesy or lame it might sound. It gives an insight into who you are and what you like to do.

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: I was keen to find a decent app that could help me meet more people in Singapore. So I decided to give it a try on this app.

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: The entire process feels very systematic. I like that we have a Love Assistant that we can message if we run into any problems or trouble using the app. The Love Assistant will help each one of us to search for the best candidate according to our preferences.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?
A: Within a Week.

Q: How was your first date?
A: First date was fun. Very Enjoyable.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: It’s really a safe app to try to get and know more people. Have fun and enjoy the process!

App Review by Sydney Ho

This app is essentially a godsend to us females! And here’s why,

1. It ascertains that there are no married people on the app as furnishing of NRIC particulars is a requirement – LunchClick is SDN accredited, allowing them to validate if the particulars provided are genuine.

2. The app also checks against Facebook profiles and rejects individuals with fake profiles or those whose relationship status shows that they are attached.

3. Ensure that all users are genuine singles.

4. A limitation of one match per day so guys will not be able to simply swipe endlessly to check out female users. No “number’s game” for the men here!

5. Females don’t get bombarded with tons of messages by creepy guys.

I found the app a breeze to use, coupled with the duration taken for it to validate my profile was not even 5 minutes!

App Review by Celine Chiam

Two unique points about this app – there’s a real person who will converse with me, and there is only one match a day. A match a day will reduce the possibility of users abusing the application and swiping endlessly to check out girls’ profiles.

What intrigued me about this app is also that you get a Love Assistant, Kate! She is a real person who is ready to take care of any concerns that you may have. How cool is that? 🙂 I would imagine her job to be like that of Cupid’s! Kate would sit in an office of pink hearts and red roses and draw hearts over two potential lovebirds. Hehe.

Meanwhile, evaluating the existing dating apps in the market, how many are so targeted and customised such that you actually get to go out on real-life dates? Random online conversations usually do not work, and for those who are really interested to date may be demoralised or discouraged by the lack of success in finding a worthy potential. Are these investments in time, effort and maybe even money worth it?

On the contrary, LunchClick’s built-in “propose a date” function enables you to seamlessly move from connecting online to bringing your date offline. It’s time to stop swiping, and start meeting up. Don’t cha think so?

App Review by Claire Tay

My personal experience while using the LunchClick App:

I love how the app is super easy to navigate around and use. All I did was to fill up my particulars, add a picture of myself and that’s it! The app then informed me that my profile was pending approval by the management. You can ensure that all profiles would be genuine as they manually approve all incoming profiles to ensure the quality of their database. Unsurprisingly, my profile got approved within 15 minutes! Thereafter, I received a message from my personal love consultant, Kate. It’s amazing how efficient they are in helping me out 🙂

App Review by Deenise Glitz

I think that the manual profile verification is actually a good feature because it filters out all the “fake” users. During the sign-up, NRIC is required because LunchClick is SDN accredited and they have to check against their database to ensure there are no married people on the app. Yes, you’d be surprised to find out that there are married couples joining such dating apps looking for hookups or relationships. They also screen through users’ Facebook profiles and reject people with fake profiles or those whose relationship status shows that they are attached.

This is to ensure that all users in their database are genuine singles who are serious in looking for a relationship. At least, you won’t be wasting time reading creepy or flirtatious messages from someone who is unavailable.

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: Word of mouth

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: The app seems to have a higher success rate than other dating apps that I have tried. Feels like the people that I meet are more genuine.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?
A: 2 days.

Q: How was your first date?
A: It was not bad. We had dinner at Maki-san at Cathay, and then took a nice stroll to Raffles City for Yoguru. I enjoyed talking to my date and getting to know her. Sent her home at the end of the night.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: Yes! Be funny. Girls prefer guys who tend to joke a lot. Singaporean girls tend to be more conservative and might be stressed in life. So when a guy is being funny, it can make her feel better. Other than being funny, be a gentlemen too, and that might make her day a lot better/special.
Also, have confidence in yourself. Even if you’re ugly it doesn’t mean you’re unwanted. It’s the heart that counts.  Always remember that even if a girl doesn’t like you on your first date, don’t beat yourself up over it, just move on. Note to yourself: You started with NOTHING. No harm trying.

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: It seems like a good alternative to other social apps. The other apps are more casual in nature and wasn’t something that seemed suitable for me.

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: It is more ‘selective’ in nature because they do manual profile approval of the incoming applicants. I like that not just any random person can sign up. I think, as a result, my experience on the app feels more real.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?
A: It took about 1-2 weeks – it would’ve been earlier, but we had to do some coordinating with both of our work schedules.

Q: How was your first date?
A: It was fine – I got the sense that my date was very amused that the app actually worked and that a girl would actually meet him. I would say overall that the date was a good experience.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: If you’re too afraid to make the first step, you’re never going to succeed. Use the app with an open heart!

App Review by Cek Kwang, 27, Singapore

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: I was introduced to this app through LOLA. Prior to this, I’ve tried meeting new people through other apps as well. I think it’s a good way to meet new people, especially if your social circle consists of more or less the same crowd.

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: How I’m able to use the questions library and quickly understand someone without having to feel weird about asking all these questions. I think that this is really a good feature to have because it allows both parties to understand each other’s way of thinking in a light-hearted manner that’s not too serious.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?

A: After about 20 questionnaires answered.

Q: How was your first date?

A: It was good. I felt that the question library really helps to break the ice before the date. Although I didn’t feel any physical attraction to my date, we were having great conversations, and that was cool as well. I’m still hopeful because I can see how this app is going to help simplify the process of meeting someone with the potential for a relationship.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: Pick somewhere central for the venue so that your date is more likely to get accepted!

App Review by Moses, 28, Singapore

Q: What made you join LunchClick?
A: One of my friend decided to introduce me to this app, as he knows that I’m single.

Q: What do you like about LunchClick?
A: It is different from other dating apps – to be honest, most guys just keep swiping right without even pausing to look at your match’s profile on other apps. On LunchClick, it’s a lot more exclusive – you only have one match per day. Whilst that might sound limiting, it’s actually good for me because I’m really busy and don’t have that much time to spend on the app. LunchClick also shows you the compatibility level with your match.

Q: After you had a Mutual Like with your date, how long was it before you met in real life?
A: It was about 1-2 weeks later.

Q: How was your first date?
A: It was fine. As we were only able to do Q&A, but unable to chat freely via LunchClick, we had lots to talk about during dinner, and we never ran out of topics.

Q: Do you have any advice for the other LunchClick users?
A: Have an open mind, and do not judge someone by just their appearances. You will never know when love comes knocking at your door via the next match! 🙂
